Top 5 Most Important Aspects of Your Game So you’ve decided to plunge yourself into the world of game development, have assembled a team of mighty warriors to tackle all the big issues and are ready to create the next best game in the industry… trumping WoW, Guild Wars… (you get the point). You’ve chopped up all your brainstorming and assembled some really keen concepts for a storyline and you’re ready to go. But amongst all the programming, the character concepts, the dungeons, and the quests – what are truly the most important aspects of your game that will determine whether someone enjoys themself? Read on, and allow me to share with you what I think.

When we do decide to take that plunge into the development of a new game, there are five things you should consider very carefully, and pay a great deal of attention to. There are probably more of these that will hinder or help you along your way, and your ordering may be different than mine, but these are what I always hold to be the most important. Over the next week we will reveal each aspects, and at the end of the week culminate with the complete article. For today we’ll begin at the top, with number 5.

Number 5: Storyline

When crafting your game, there is no better inspiration for features and activities, quests and dungeons, than your very own highly developed and custom tailored storyline. Some may balk at this statement, claiming that storyline is easily overshadowed and un-necessary when you have intense graphics that make your fingers tingle, or when you have combat so intense that you’re literally ducking out of the way from behind your monitor. While these things definitely contribute to an awesome game, and can lead to a lot of excitement (in fact, they’re on the list too!), they cannot make up for a lack of storyline. One thing many players crave whether consciously or not, is a strong storyline that leads them into caring about the game – it entices you – and makes you feel as though your wildest dreams may in fact be possible in this environment. Storyline can be simple and to the point while being so flawlessly done that it serves as the crux of the entire game (EVE Online: We’re flying through space, blowing people out of the sky…) and at the same time being so rich and deep with lore (the complexities in lore and story surrounding EVE is so great that it entangles even the most basic ships and inventory items) that it compels players to write their own histories.

A New Definition of Technology – The Scientific Texts That Guide Human Activity The advances in technology will send humans to Mars in the near future. Internet of things, 5G, artificial intelligence, automated driving, and so on and on, probably no one is able to list all the new technologies that are emerging. The complexity of the technological world is wonderful but just as bewildering, and difficult to grasp. Yet, the researchers, engineers, and technicians just need to focus on their own portion of the work. The complex robots are composed of smaller functional units that are manageable by the respective professionals. They are guided by scientific texts and in the minds. Despite the complexity of technologies, they will finally be traced to the simple origin in scientific texts.

Wikipedia defines technology as “Technology is the sum of techniques, skills, methods, and processes used in the production of goods or services or the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation.” In the search, technology is defined as “the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.” The definitions are broad, seemingly to include all useful ways of humans achieving something. Indeed, technology is itself a broad term with many valid definitions. Both definitions are correct in that they describe facts. But they don’t explain the meaning of the terms such as “techniques”, “application” and “scientific knowledge”, which are vague terms and could involve all the things in the universe.

Existing Home Sales Improve – What Does This Mean For You The Home Seller? In December, a report from the National Association of Realtors says that existing home sales surged by 12.3 percent, annualized this comes to a rate of sales of 5.28 million existing homes. In November, annualized sales were at 4.7 million. For the last half of 2010 five out of six months showed gains, according to Stuart Hoffman, chief economist at PNC Financial Services Group.

Existing home sales include finalized sales of single-family homes, townhouses, condominiums and co-ops.

However, looking deeper into the numbers, sales were down 2.9% from the earlier twelve months and in 2010 fell 4.7%. Prices for existing homes fell 1.0% from a year ago and there is over eight months of housing inventory at the present time.”The modest rise in distressed sales, which typically are discounted 10 to 15 percent relative to traditional homes, dampened the median price in December, but the flat price trend continues,” Lawrence Yun, National Association of Realtors chief economist explained. He continued, “December was a good finish to 2010, when sales fluctuate more than normal. The pattern over the past six months is clearly showing a recovery.”

Conclusions of industry experts agree – basically there is agreement that the existing home market has bobbled along for the past three years, and according to Hoffman, though the market for existing homes is weak, it is not getting weaker. Hoffman indicates that he expects the housing market to improve as employment improves and forecasts a 4 percent to 5% percent improvement by the end of 2011. Hoffman makes this prediction including the excessive numbers of foreclosures that are due to hit the market during 2011. He cautions though, that while sales will go up, prices will most likely suffer a downturn. Hence, it will remain a buyer’s market.
